Member One Donates $2,000 to Turkish Cooperative Earthquake Relief Fund
ShareMember One Federal Credit Union donated $2,000 to the Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions (WFCU), the charitable and engagement arm of World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU), for The Turkish Cooperative Earthquake Relief Fund.
WFCU launched this fundraising effort to solicit donations in support of Turkey’s cooperative movement, which has suffered mass devastation from two February 6th earthquakes and many aftershocks. The Turkish Cooperative Earthquake Relief Fund will help mitigate the impacts of the recent earthquakes to Turkey’s cooperative movement and those that look to it for support.
“We may not always think about it, but local credit unions are part of a larger, worldwide credit union movement that exists to provide people everywhere access to alternative banking. During a humanitarian crisis like this, people need credit unions urgently. I’m proud that Member One chose to help,” stated Alex Lucas, VP of Community Impact.
