Member One Donates $5,000 to Maui, Hawaii Wildfire Relief Fund

ROANOKE, VA (August 2023) — Member One Federal Credit Union donated $5,000 to the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) CUAid disaster relief program, which is working with the Hawaii Credit Union League on disaster relief efforts in Maui, Hawaii. The Foundation’s CUAid disaster relief program is the ‘People Helping People’ philosophy in action — every penny donated to CUAid goes directly to credit union volunteers and employees affected by natural disasters.

“We’re honored to partner with the NCUF in their efforts to support those who have experienced this loss and to support their efforts to rebuild,” stated Alex Lucas, VP of Community Impact. “Credit Unions play a vital role in Hawaiians’ financial well-being during difficult times, and this organization supports the people who make credit unions function for their members.”

The NCUF is closely aligned with the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) and is known as the national charitable arm of America’s credit union movement. This fundraising effort was established to show support for those impacted by the wildfires devastating Western Maui. The NCUF responds when disasters strike to help credit union employees and volunteers get back on their feet and ultimately back to helping credit union members.
