Strengthening Our Communities

Member One has been serving people in our community for more than 85 years. Our mission is to help our members, employees, and communities thrive. We honor that commitment of giving back to local organizations through our giving pillars of Youth, Food Insecurity, Well-being, and Financial Education.

We support numerous non-profits and other organizations throughout our communities.

In total, Member One contributed over $400,000 to local non-profits and community organizations in Southwest and Central Virginia in 2025 through community engagement, marketing sponsorships, and our 'Financial Success at Work' programs.

Season of Giving

Our 2025 Season of Giving donations, which happened during November and December, totaled $85,000!

The donations will help fund the work and programs of 12 local non-profits.

We are supporting organizations serving the unhoused, moms and young children, families impacted with children in the hospital, enhancing food security, and supporting health and educational programs.

Our Season of Giving program also includes our plusONE card donations, supporting 6 nonprofits in Southwest Virginia and Central Virginia with donations totaling $25,000:

Financial Education

At Member One, we believe that financial education is the foundation of long-term success and stability.

We work with local schools (including colleges and universities), government entities, retirement communities, area organizations, and partner companies to provide financial education support.

We hosted 118 financial education sessions reaching 7,426 people 2025. In addition, we had 1,456 people benefit from online programming and resources.

Volunteerism

In 2025, Member One employees volunteered at:

Feeding SW VA – packing 515 Senior Food Boxes.

Toy Like Me (Roanoke College) – modifying toys, to reflect disabilities and medical issues, that are distributed to comfort children at Carilion Children’s Hospital and other medical facilities.

Ronald McDonald House of SW VA – performing Fall clean up and setting up the Christmas store for residents.

WSLS Shred Event – helping to keep important documents and personal information safe from prevent identity theft, and financial fraud.

Junior Achievement Stock Market – a live stock market simulation where high school students learn about and participate in Take in Stock in your Future® curriculum.

Read-Save-Succeed –partnering with local schools and organizations to read and teach financial education to students in K-5th grades.
