Credit Card Security Alerts

Keeping your accounts secure is a top priority. That's why every Virginia Credit Union credit and debit card is automatically enrolled in security alerts. If we notice potentially suspicious activity, we'll contact you by text message first. If we don't hear back, we'll follow up with an email and then a phone call to help ensure we reach you quickly. These alerts provide an added layer of security that helps to protect your accounts from unauthorized activity.

FAQs

What are Credit Card Security Text Alerts used for?

Virginia Credit Union monitors card activity to identify transactions that may be fraudulent. Credit Card Security Text Alerts are one way for us to notify you of any suspicious transactions.

How do the text messages work?

  • A text message will be sent to your mobile device when there are any suspicious transactions on your card.
  • You can then reply to confirm whether or not you recognize the transactions.
  • If you do not recognize the transactions, you will receive a text message asking you to call Fraud Detection at 1-888-918-7313. A block will be placed on the card immediately to protect you from further fraudulent activity. The block will remain in place until we hear from you.
  • If you reply that you recognize the transactions, your card will remain available for use.

Do I need to register for security alerts?

No, if you have a VACU credit or debit card, you will automatically be enrolled in security alerts.
