The credit union may pay overdrafts based on such factors as a member’s account history. We do this as a convenience for members to help them avoid returned checks and other items. Paying overdrafts is at the discretion of the credit union.

This is determined based on such factors as a member’s account history. Whether a transaction will be paid is at the discretion of the credit union and we cannot guarantee we will always authorize and pay a transaction. Online and mobile banking are great ways to keep tabs on your accounts and reduce the risk of overdrafts.
Please see our Fee Disclosure for current fees.
An overdraft fee is charged when the credit union pays a transaction for which you do not have sufficient funds and allows your account to go negative. An NSF fee is charged when you do not have funds to cover the full amount of the transaction and we return the item unpaid.
Debit card transactions made using your PIN are posted at the time they occur.
Signature (non-PIN) debit card transactions may be preauthorized when they occur (based on amounts submitted by merchants), and then posted to accounts within a few days when VACU receives the final transaction amounts from the merchants. That timing may vary from merchant to merchant.
Items may be posted at any time of the day or night, and many items are posted real-time. With electronic processes and check imaging, items are received faster than in the past.
