Richmond Public Schools Saving Program
We’re giving Richmond Public School students $20 to jumpstart their savings!
We want to help RPS students start their saving journey.
-
It’s never too early to start saving. That’s why Virginia Credit Union is partnering with RPS to bring financial literacy opportunities to the students of Richmond Public Schools. And through our program, RPS Saves, we’re encouraging students to save and setting them up for a bright financial future.
Sign your RPS student up for a VACU savings account, and we’ll jumpstart their savings by covering the $5 membership and depositing $20 in their account!? Please note: Applications for minors age 13 or younger may only be completed and submitted by the intended custodian on the account.
When you reach the eligibility step in the application, select the first option that you live, work, worship, volunteer, or attend school within a qualifying community. Then select Richmond from the dropdown menu.

Get started in three simple steps:
-

Sign your student up for a savings account with no minimum balance or fees. You'll be able to grant the child control at age 18.
-
2. Get a Jumpstart
Virginia Credit Union will automatically deposit $20 in the new custodial savings account to get your student's saving journey started.
-
3. Keep Saving
Talk to your student about their savings. Create healthy money habits together and watch the balance grow!
